George Mastrokostas represented the Professional Union “EEFIPAM” and its members before the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Environment & Energy On 31-05-2016, aiming the facilitation of the administrative process regarding the concession of use of the public sea shore and the coastal – beach spaces in connection to the relevant exploitation rights granted from public sector to third parties, legal entities and touristic entrepreneurs within environmentally protected zones & areas under Natura 2000 network.
He assisted the efforts of the relevant authorities, representing clients of our offices, towards the establishment of a rational and fast frame concession for use of shoreline public spaces, with full compliance with the applicable environmental legislation and by taking into account legal prospective balancing the rights and obligations of both citizens and business establishments for access to the foreshore and beach with respect to the wildlife and in the best possible environmentally sensitive way. His legal proposals take into consideration and the particular morphology of each coastal region under concession. He also advised possible legal options for simplification of the lengthy and bureaucratic concession procedures which are inconveniencing citizens.
George consults regularly for several years a large number of clients in order to act according to the legislation for nature conservation within the Natura 2000 network and with respect to environmental issues and sustainable development. He also participated in the relevant public consultation initiated by Greek Parliament, by submitting his legal drafts, views and arguments about the necessary objective criteria to be taken into account by the legislator, in order to protect more effectively the Greek territorial shoreline and coastline and eliminate undue delay effects and opacity due to unnecessary legal complexities troubling Greek citizens, tourists and touristic entrepreneurs.
