George Maronidis attended as a speaker the Conference regarding the establishment of a Greek Centre for Development of multimodality under name “E.K.A.P.”, held on 16-12-2014 at the “Macedonia Palace” at Thessaloniki and organized by partners of the European project «ADB Multiplatform» in Greece, namely the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki “A.P.TH.”, the Professional Chamber of Thessaloniki “E.E.TH.” and the Thessaloniki Port Authority “O.L.TH.”.

He made a thorough legal analysis on Combined Transport Institutional Framework with reference to judicial issues and case law aspects and submitted his legal proposals and views for the facilitation of Multimodal Transport. He, specifically,  suggested that the main objectives of the “Greek Development Centre on multimodality – E.K.A.P.” should be: a) to raise awareness and promotion of combined transport at national level and to support the development of the industry, b) the spread of multi-modal transport, the development of best practices, and provision of information on new developments to a targeted audience, c) to provide training services in connection with combined transport in order to meet market needs while at the same time should promote the knowledge to improve transport and logistics in this direction, d) to formulate and develop strategies in discussions with organizations and institutions implementing relevant policies in Greece, e) to support cooperation between operators of multimodal transport with special attention to SMEs and finally f) to develop partnerships with other organizations that promote combined transport at national and international level and actively participate in transnational networks dealing with the said industry.
